I'm closing in on the mark of two years since i registered Chimera Events as my company and started following my dreams. Learning how to run a business has been no easy feat, and it's brought so many opportunities to learn and get to know both my strengths and challenges.
In addition to all things practica there is the part i love the most - where we work together to inspire action, share ideas and work on a collective vision. I highly value enjoyment in the actual process, as opposed to just focusing on the end result.
I've gotten opportunities from inspirational people that i've met on my journey. These are either people i've worked with before where trust is established, friends who got their opportunities and chose to share, as well as people who don't know me at all, that took the chance.
I've tried different opportunities, in order to gain wide experience, sometimes going above both what i believed was my capacity and breaking expectations of what i can do. It's been such a roller coaster, and it's all led to very valuable growth. Through the year i've gotten to know my own capacity, and gotten better at choosing projects that feels in alignment with my values. These are three major, really fun events that had me on at different roles, and ended up challenging and empowering me a lot.
'Mer film' took a chance at me, by allowing me to plan and host their Bergen premiere and after-party. In collaboration with Bergen Kino. The after-party was hosted at Vestnorske Teateret.
At 'hjørnet' i had one night to create what i wanted - so i jumped high. This was my vision from start to end - an attempt at bringing something magical from pure imagination into this tangible world. The night was sold out.
Birgitte - a dear friend and the most fun event planner and executor i know, so graciously included me in helping her create her vision. Together with Miss Beehives, we did a drag show lip-sync DJ-set hybrid.
club.alive was another attempt at bringing something to life from vision and desire. Victor Nøkleby, an aspiring young visual artist and creative soul came into my life, and we knew we were creating something new together. We had similar inspirations and intentions, and a wish to do something playful that would welcome you in exactly as you are. We also included Vilde Greger and Linn Arnesen, who later left the project.
This project had a really sharp learning curve, where we learned about our own limitations, timing, location of the event - and how much can actually go wrong in one night. We had the fire alarm shut us off twice, and nothing went as we were hoping it would. We were left with a lot of potential to improve, and a desire to take our project in a different direction. We lost money on this event, with lower attendance than expected. Booking Studio USF was a big chance that did not pay off this time around.
